A&R Tarpaulins Inc., and its divisions AR Tech and AR Industries, have received the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 2009 Family Owned Small Business of the Year Award, one of only two winners from the agency’s Region IX zone (California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii and Guam). “Recession is a challenge, and meeting that obstacle head-on with our team here at AR Tech helped us not only survive, but thrive,” said company president Carmen Weisbart. Honorees were measured by sales and profits, increased employment opportunities, potential for long-term success and economic growth, and voluntary efforts that strengthen family-owned businesses within the community. The AR Tech team will be honored during the SBA’s “Meeting Challenges … Achieving Success” award luncheon at the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Yuhaviatam Room in Highland, Calif., on June 4.
