The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) ranks India among the top five developing nations in industrial production in textiles, motor vehicles, chemicals and basic metals, according to a recent report. India is second only to China in textile production, and its growth rate of manufacturing value added (MVA) has risen from 6.9 percent in 2000–2005 to 12.3 percent in 2005–2007.
