After a sluggish few years, India’s textile sector is again importing European high-end textile machinery in hopes that modernizing will help the country compete as the worldwide economy continues to improve. “We expect it to bounce back in 2010,” says Dietmar Loos of German textile machine manufacturer Xetma Vollenweider. Several Italian firms that specialize in fabric finishing, coating and flocking equipment also regard India as a growing market. “While Turkey, China, Germany and Austria were our primary markets, we have focused our attention on India since 2007,” says Mauro Mare, sales director of Pentek Textile Machinery.
