Reportlinker.com has announced the availability of a new report, “World Textile and Apparel Trade and Production Trends: the U.S.A., Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, 2009 Edition” that describes market conditions in North and South America. No surprise, the struggling economy hit all markets hard in 2009. Among the highlights: a 10.6 percent drop in textile and clothing imports and a 24.1 percent drop in exports from the U.S.; textile production rose by 1.5 percent in Argentina in 2008, but dropped by 13.2 percent in the first half of 2009; and textile sales rose by a healthy 25.8 percent in Colombia in 2009, but clothing exports plunged by 54.5 percent.
