TIE Technologies submits proposed team response to Gulf oil spill

Industry News | June 3, 2010 | By:

TIE Technologies Inc., an information technology, security and telecommunications company, has announced its submission of the OilDam® Emergency Containment Proposal to the EPA’s Homeland Security Research Center and the U.S. Coast Guard for immediate consideration. TIE is leading a team of industry experts in providing a viable solution to keep the BP Gulf oil spill away from the shores, contain it, and enable its removal. Team members include Geocomp Corp., a global leader in the geo-engineering field; Gunderboom Inc., a global technical fabricator of geosynthetic composite systems specifically designed for the marine environment; and Tencate Geosynthetics, a leading provider of geosynthetics and solutions for the transportation, erosion control and shoreline protection markets.

“Not only does the OilDam geo tube system provide the U.S. Coast Guard with a cost-effective solution to keep oil away from the shore, but also allows for the recycling of contaminated seawater that can be pumped out of the Gulf into storage containers for filtration and eventual reuse,” said Mark Marangella, executive vice president of TIE Technologies.
