Receiving LEED certification with awnings

Resources | January 1, 2011 | By:

Can you tell me which awning systems have LEED certification?

LEED is the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. A product, such as an awning, isn’t LEED certified. Rather, a product can contribute to a building receiving LEED certification. The certification system measures how well a building performs with regards to several environmentally-related areas such as energy savings and water efficiency. It’s actually a rating system, with different aspects of the building awarded points based on their environmental performance. There are different rating systems for different types of construction, such as existing buildings, schools and healthcare facilities.
