ASTM student outreach: “Jumpstart Your Career”

Industry News | March 1, 2011 | By:

ASTM International, one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world, has launched its 2011 academic outreach campaign, entitled “Jumpstart Your Career.” The initiative provides new opportunities for students to increase their knowledge of standards and develop critical technical skills prior to entering the workforce. ASTM student membership is an integral part of this year’s academic campaign. First launched in 2003, the ASTM student membership category has grown to include more than 5,000 college and university students from more than 70 countries around the world. Student membership is offered at no cost to full-time graduate or undergraduate students and includes a wide range of benefits that facilitate student exposure to the field of standards.

The ASTM International Student Video Contest provides a forum for students to showcase their ability to apply ASTM standards in a class project, lab environment and other applications. Students must create a video highlighting their use of ASTM standards and submit it to ASTM International for judging. Cash awards will be given to the first, second and third place winning videos. Visit www1.astm.org/studentmember/video_contest.html for details on the contest.
