The quality and cachet of Italian fashion, leather goods and wine may soon be matched by Italian textile machinery, according to the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT). Exports of Italian machinery have risen 37 percent during the first quarter of 2011 compared to the same period last year. “The growth of our export market … bears witness to the fact that textile manufacturers from a variety of different countries around the world continue to place their trust in our machinery,” says ACIMIT president Sandro Salmoiraghi. Italian machinery manufacturers will look to build this success at the ITMA textile machinery trade show in Barcelona, Spain, where 320 Italian manufacturers will exhibit products.
