The protective fiber Lenzing FR® and the workwear fiber TENCEL® proved themselves by winning two recent world championship titles. Lenzing sponsored the Austrian firefighter Herbert Krenn with clothing made of Lenzing FR® and police officer Gottfried Post with T-shirts of TENCEL® at the World Police & Fire Games 2011 in New York. Both athletes won gold medals. The World Police & Fire Games multi-sport event has been held since 1985 for members of public safety organizations and comprises 70 types of athletic events with 16,000 participants. After the Olympic Games, it is the largest international sports event.

The flame-resistant fiber Lenzing FR is known as a skin-friendly protective fiber. The fiber offers unique heat insulation properties combined with permanent flame-resistance, benefits that are especially important in situations when the body can overheat, such as at work or during intensive competition. Due to its natural origin, it delivers good moisture management and excellent temperature control, giving the wearer a competitive edge.

The cellulosic functional fiber TENCEL can be found in a range of different applications such as corporate fashion, professional clothing in the food service industry and uniforms. At the World Police & Fire Games 2011 the world champion in the Pistol Police Action event (practical pistol shooting), Gottfried Post, wore TENCEL in the events. The fiber is characterized by a wide range of properties which support the wearer both during competition and in the real working world. Reduced bacterial growth, the very best skin-sensory properties and excellent moisture management performance guarantee optimum wear comfort.
