The first Valerie Bursten Window Fashions Scholarship will allow winner Cheryl Henricks, owner of Draperies by George in Chilicothe, Ohio, to take design and sales courses and attend the International Window Coverings Expo in Chicago in 2012. The $6,000 scholarship was established to honor the memory of Valerie Bursten, a veteran executive in the window coverings industry, who died earlier this year. Henricks’s interest in professional career growth through education and training led to her selection for the scholarship, cosponsored by Window Fashion-Vision magazine, Custom Home Furnishings Academy, Exciting Windows and Window Coverings University.
