Phifer outdoor furniture fabrics receive GREENGUARD certification

Products | February 9, 2012 | By:

Phifer Incorporated announces the entire collection of Designed Fabrics has achieved certification by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) for superior indoor air quality performance. Designed Fabrics have also been certified as meeting the more stringent GREENGUARD Children and Schools standards for commercial use.

The Designed Fabrics collection joins a host of other Phifer insect screening and interior and exterior sun control products in achieving this designation, marking Phifer’s continued commitment to being environmentally conscious.

Designed Fabrics—plush, 100 percent recyclable GeoBella® Cushion Fabrics and sleek, slingable Phifertex® Outdoor Fabrics—are available in an array of colors and intricately-woven designs in dobbies, wicker weaves, stripes and jacquards. These fabrics have the stability and strength needed for outdoor performance, yet many are soft and touchable enough for seating cushions. Phifertex can also be used in awning, umbrella, pillow and exterior fabric applications.

Designed Fabrics do not absorb water and dry quickly, which makes them resistant to mold and mildew growth. Woven to endure extreme weather conditions, these no-fuss fabrics are exceptionally durable and fade resistant. They are also stain resistant and easy to clean, even with bleach.

All products certified by GEI must pass a series of rigorous emissions tests and undergo quarterly tests, as well as annual recertification, to ensure their low emission status is maintained. GEI is an independent, third party, unbiased nonprofit organization founded to create healthier indoor environments, improving public health and quality of life by testing and certifying low chemical-emitting products and materials and helping manufacturers build better and safer products.
