Geotextiles reinforce another great wall in China

TenCate Geosynthetics used geotextiles to reinforce locally available soil fill in the construction of an extensive retaining wall supporting a new coal processing plant at the Hetaoyu Coal Mine Complex in Gansu Province, China. Approximately one km long, 30 meters high and 140 meters wide, the wall traverses rugged, sloped terrain along the Jinghe River. The platform for the plant was reclaimed by cutting into the hillside slope next to the river and recompacting it with Mirafi© PET geotextile reinforcement to construct a strong and lasting structure. The project was completed on schedule, and the geotextile-reinforced soil retaining wall system resulted in significant cost savings compared to other options that were evaluated.
