“Pink Flamenco” umbrellas for charity

Industry News | September 24, 2012 | By:

Santa Barbara Designs® (SBD), Oxnard, Calif., has announced that, effective Oct. 1, the beginning of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it will make a charitable donation for every “Pink Flamenco” umbrella sold through the rest of 2012. Each new owner of a “Pink Flamenco” (or any other color Flamenco), may select a charitable organization, and SBD will make the donation directly.

The “Pink Flamenco” is inspired by the volantes (ruffles or frills) found on the skirt of the traditional Flamenco dresses originally worn by Andalusian women. The pink and white color honors the month-long international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities each October to increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for research, prevention, treatment and cure.

Despite the umbrella’s delicate appearance, it is engineered for year-round outdoor use. All Santa Barbara umbrellas may be specified in Regatta® and Sunbrella® fabric in more than 50 sun-kissed colors and striped patterns.
