The TCL2012 International Conference on Textile Coating and Laminating, Spain; Innovation for Textile Resource Efficiency conference, Brussels.

TCL2012, the original international conference on the coating and laminating of textiles, will be held on Nov. 15–16, 2012, in the beautiful and historic city of Valencia, Spain.

Over nearly 20 years, the International Conference on Textile Coating and Laminating (TCL) has built a reputation as a vital meeting place for the global coating and laminating industry. TCL is a venue for practical presentations focussing on what is happening in the industry today, and what will happen tomorrow. Supplemented by intensive discussion sessions actively led by the session chairs, the conference is a meeting place for senior managerial, technical and marketing staff from the entire international coating and laminating industry.

Subjects for discussion in 2012 will include the latest updates on: coatings for flame retardancy, heat resistance, water repellency, weather resistance, and ballistic protection; technologies such as plasma technology, UV curing, infrared treatment and hot melt systems; and coating materials including nanocoatings, ceramic coatings, silicone coatings and hot melt coatings, along with smart–intelligent coatings and laminates.

TCL2012 is sponsored by Technical Textiles International and International Newsletters Ltd. Keynote speaker will be the Cooley Group CEO Dan Dwight, who will speak about global expansion through sustainability and social responsibility. He will draw not only on his experiences with Cooley but also on his work in renewable energy and his time at General Electric to show how sustainability and social responsibility improve long-term value creation.

The conference will include presentations on: production processes, multifunctional textiles, base fabric interaction; new materials, microencapsulation, nanotechnology and nanofibers; plasma treatment, welding and specialty laminates. The topics will be discussed in relation to practicality, cost effectiveness, new opportunities and applications, and environmental impact and sustainability. A special program on the afternoon of the second day will look at a range of important and emerging applications for coated and laminated materials.
