Night lights: pool, path and patio

Nothing creates a mysterious and evocative ambiance better than an evening event awash in lights. Air Dimensional Design Inc. (AirDD), North Hollywood, Calif., has installed the company’s huge inflatable Hi-Lights™ on the ground and from the ceilings at events as diverse as the Pasadena Museum of History Gala, “Despicable Me” movie premier after-party, hospital fundraisers and bar mitzvahs. The company’s newest products in that line, LuMinies™, make a smaller, but more elegant, statement. These internally lit objects made from sturdy polyethylene and remote-controlled LED lights can define a garden path, float in a swimming pool or provide a glowing centerpiece for indoor or outdoor celebrations.

LuMinies come in three shapes—sphere, oval and wick—that range in size from the eight-inch diameter sphere to the 14.5-inch tall wick. They’re waterproof, feature rechargeable batteries that last up to eight hours, come in a range of colors and offer programmable LED color changes. In plain white, LuMinies offer a contemporary, minimalist feeling to indoor space. In bright or shifting colors and artistic configurations, they can ramp up a party atmosphere. Who says night lights are only for those afraid of the dark?
