New: Thermochromatic polyurethane that indicates temperature by appearance.
Advantages: Below 18 degrees C, the top color (dark brown) appears; between 18-30 (room temperature) the middle color (cinnamon) is evident; above 30 (by human touch or ambient temperature) the base color “pops” through as the top colors become transparent. Popper can be “tuned” to specific temperature ranges. Novel applications include a cell phone case that changes color throughout the day.
