Silver UL Environment certification for Sunbrella

Industry News | May 1, 2014 | By:

The Association of Contract Textiles (ACT) instituted a sustainability standard for commercial furnishing fabrics, and Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, Glen Raven, N.C., self-certified two of its fabrics under the standard in 2011. Now, Glen Raven has received third-party certification by UL Environment, a company providing independent validation for green marketing claims, for 50 patterns in the Sunbrella® fabric line. The Silver Level certification includes fabrics with the company’s
Defiance® antimicrobial treatment. UL Environment visited Glen Raven’s manufacturing operations to evaluate processes and materials, and certified that 50 Sunbrella patterns comply with the environmental and social responsibility criteria of NSF/ANSI 336 Standard, a voluntary sustainability assessment tool that looks at fabric sourcing, safety of materials, water conservation, water quality, energy conservation, recycling practices, air quality and social accountability. Vist the Glen Raven website for complete information.
