Recognition program highlights companies committed to sustainable production conditions.
OEKO-TEX has selected W. L. Gore & Associates Inc. as its Company of the Month for January. Launched in 2011, the recognition campaign highlights companies who stand out based on their above average commitment to human ecological product safety and sustainable production conditions.
W. L. Gore is well known for its membrane technology, GORE-TEX®, used for products including clothing, waterproof footwear, cables for telecommunications, medical implants, filter tubes for power plants and products for use in aeronautics and aerospace electronics.
All of the company’s production sites are certified in accordance with specifications of ISO 9001-9008, and it is in the process of certifying a newly implemented environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001. At the end of 2013, W. L. Gore completed the elimination of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) from all of the raw materials used in the manufacture of its weather-resistant functional textiles.
The Company of the Month application is open to all businesses with a valid OEKO-TEX certification.
