Huntsman supports sustainability practices

Industry News, News | May 28, 2015 | By:

Under a memorandum of understanding, Huntsman Textile Effects is assisting Korean textile exporter Daechun Co. Ltd. to deepen its commitment to sustainability. The Singapore-based provider of dyes and chemicals will help Daechun streamline operations and train technical staff at its textile mill in Gyunggi Province. Huntsman will perform an operational audit called PIP at the facility and recommend ways to improve productivity and profitability. This audit has proven to be capable of reducing overall energy consumption while increasing output by up to 30 percent and improve right-first-time performance by up to 95 percent.

Huntsman is also addressing business challenges and collaborating with mills and brands to drive sustainable growth in Vietnam’s textile industry. The company recently announced the opening this month of a new bonded warehouse near Ho Chi Minh City. Customers will benefit from shorter order lead times and a quicker response to ad hoc deliveries through the new facility. The warehouse positions Huntsman to support customers’ growth objectives when free trade agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership are formalized.

Similar to its work with Daechun, Huntsman has implemented a PIP at a Panko Vina Corp. plant, which has adopted new technologies from Huntsman to save energy and water.
