Spinnova Ltd. is developing fiber to yarn (F2Y) technology that uses a wet spinning process instead of dissolution chemicals to produce novel, low-cost and environmentally friendly textile yarns for filaments made directly from wood fibers spinning process. The technique is ideal for refining Finnish long fiber-length woods including pine and spruce. Spinnova Ltd. is a spin-off of VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd.

Spinnova’s wood fiber yarn project won the Ministry of Employment and the Economy’s biorefinery competition in February 2015.
