Q-Lab, producer of weather equipment and outdoor exposure test services, announced that Doug Grossman, Q-Lab president, received the Warren Ketola Memorial Award on Jan. 25 at the ASTM G03 committee meeting in San Antonio.
The Warren Ketola Award is given in memory of Warren Ketola, a pioneer in weathering testing at 3M. Ketola was responsible for many of the early G03 weathering standards currently used throughout the world.
Grossman received the award for his groundbreaking work with Warren Ketola and his support of ASTM G03 over the past three decades. Their joint efforts paved the way for the committee’s current success. Grossman was the first proponent of the following principle, “The purpose of standards is to convey information to people who don’t already know it. Make things simple and clear.”
Grossman has been involved in the weathering and durability testing field since 1973. He has been a member of committee G03 since 1986 and served for many years as chairman of the committee D01, on paints and coatings.
