Jayalakshmi Enterprises, based in South India, has developed two mechanically processed cotton varieties for use in absorbent technical textiles products. One has a soft silken touch and the other variety is high end. The two different types of processed cotton can be used in nonwoven manufacturing processes such as needlepunching and hydroentangling to develop absorbent and other specialized technical textiles products. The products will be marketed for the nonwovens and technical textile sectors by Chennai-based Wellgro Tech trading group. They will be looking towards domestic nonwovens wipe manufacturers and international players as potential customers.
