Cooley Group has announced that J.H. Whitney Capital Partners (“Whitney”), in collaboration with Cooley’s executive leadership team, has acquired Cooley Group from its long-time owners, the Siener family.
Whitney is a leader in the private equity industry. Since its founding in 1946, it has invested in more than 400 companies and currently manages approximately $1 billion in private capital. Whitney remains privately owned, providing private equity capital to small and middle market companies with strong growth prospects in a number of industries including consumer, healthcar, and specialty manufacturing.
Following Whitney’s acquisition of Cooley, Cooley acquired Vintex Inc. For more than 60 years, Vintex has served as a leader in technical textiles and custom coated fabrics. Headquartered in Mount Forest, Ontario, Canada, Vintex operates across healthcare solutions and custom solutions. The healthcare business provides coated textiles for medical devices and antimicrobial and launderable products. Its custom business operates in a number of niche markets including sports and recreation, infrastructure, auto and transportation, and industrials.
Alantra, a global middle market investment banking, credit portfolio advisory and alternative asset management firm, acted as advisors to the Cooley Group.
