Air purifier with headphones

After years of development and hundreds of prototypes, Dyson has launched a wearable technology product that will likely claim its own market space for a time. “The Zone” is part noise-cancelling headphones and part personal air purifier. Although the name Dyson is typically associated with vacuum cleaners, it has more recently become known for its bladeless air purifiers, as well. This new product is a leap into wearables for the company. 

The Zone consists of a set of Bluetooth headphones with a “visor” that sits over a wearer’s nose and mouth shooting jets of purified air. Compressors built into the earcups suck in surrounding air, filtering out allergens and particles. The product is designed to purify the air when the wearer is on the move, and unlike face masks, it delivers fresh air without having to touch the face.
