DuPont Personal Protection honored several of its licensees that use Kevlar® and/or Nomex® materials in gloves or sleeves with its 10th annual Protection Innovation Award.
• The Kut Guard® Arc Flash Sleeve from Professional Industrial Products® (PIP®) incorporates Nomex Xtreme Arc Cut yarn and has applications for workers in the automotive and electric vehicle, manufacturing, utilities, and oil and gas industries. In addition to an NFPA 70E Arc Flash Rating of PPE 2, it also meets various cut, contact heat and vertical flame standards.

• The Mechanix Wear Leather Needlestick Law Enforcement glove incorporates a proprietary spun yarn blended with Kevlar and uses Kevlar sewing thread. Having a single ArmorCore® needlestick layer makes for a lighter and more flexible glove to protect officers from needles, blades and other punctures. It meets an ASTM F2878 Level 2 Needlestick Puncture certification and A7 cut level rating.
• The Youngstown Glove Co. Waterproof Extreme Winter Mitt includes flame-resistant fleece and Nomex insulation and a Kevlar inner liner for cut protection. It also has an arc flash rating of 100 calories per centimeter. It’s geared toward utilities, construction, and oil and gas workers.

Each design was scored on criteria such as design, use of the DuPont materials, marketability and the ability to address an unmet worker need.
