Nonwovenn, a fabric products manufacturer based in the U.K., announced its goal of achieving net zero by 2035. The announcement follows Nonwovenn’s implementation of various eco-friendly policies across its operations over the last two years.
Nonwovenn reports that it has sent zero waste to landfills for a second year, instead converting it to refuse-derived fuel through a service partner. As a result, the business avoids 1,020 tonnes (1,124 U.S. tons) of CO2 emissions. The company has also created a sustainability strategy to achieve its net zero goal by 2035, including receiving Environmental Product Declaration Certification.
“Sustainability is at the heart of Nonwovenn, our business purpose is ‘doing good to do well’. We believe that whilst we continue growing as a business, we need to ensure that we do so sustainably, with a focus on exceeding the targets set—not just meeting them,” says Prabhat Mishra, sustainability director at Nonwovenn, who was recently honored at the International Green Apple Awards for driving sustainable waste management in specialty fabrics manufacturing.
“To have our efforts recognized by the International Green Apple Awards was fantastic, as it helps push us to work towards the next level of sustainability. We hope businesses across the industry see the work we are doing and look to improve their own processes to boost sustainability across the entire nonwoven sector,” adds Mishra.
