The Hungarian brand 878® has launched a line of sailing apparel with smart fabric technology, graphene-enhanced fabric and thermal control properties. The company describes its new sailing gear as ultra-lightweight, flexible, stretchy, waterproof and stronger than steel. The apparel can be made to measure utilizing 3D body-scanning technology. In addition to strength, graphene provides unique thermal features, allowing a balanced distribution of heat produced by the human body in the cold and getting rid of it when the wearer is exposed to the sun. The digital, foldable display built into the jacket provides pertinent boat information in real time, transmitted via Bluetooth® from the boat’s instruments directly to the wearer. The company also touts its sustainability initiatives, which include waste-free production with its fully digitized processes. Photo: 878.
