The National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO), a Washington D.C.-based trade association that represents domestic textile manufacturers, welcomes President Trump’s decision to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). While NCTO supports NAFTA and believes it is vital to the prosperity of the U.S. textile industry, the organization believes it can be improved to incentivize more textile and apparel jobs and production in the United States, Canada and Mexico. NCTO would like to see loopholes eliminated that shift production to third-party countries and devote more customs enforcement resources to stop illegal third-country transshipments.
