Manufacturing Solutions Center

The Manufacturing Solutions Center (MSC) at Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) and the City of Conover (NC) will host a grand opening of the MSC Phase II building and the re-opening of the upfit MSC I building on Thursday March 30 with tours and a ribbon cutting ceremony.  The MSC is part of CVCC, with a mission of supporting US manufacturers and creating and retaining US manufacturing jobs.

The MSC Phase II building is a public-private partnership between the city of Conover, the Manufacturing Solutions Center and private equity group Whiskbroom.  The building is a two-story, 75,000 square-foot facility that houses four local manufacturers which graduated from the MSC’s business incubator and expanded MSC services including a fabric formation lab, a best practices cut & sew line, a structural testing/prototyping lab, a PPE/Textile Resource Lab, and meeting space for economic development activity.  The upfit MSC I building features expanded lab space, including a PPE Testing and Product Development Lab to assist manufacturers in the prototyping and testing of PPE products.

Construction for the new building and upfit of MSC I was funded through an appropriation from the NC State legislature to the City of Conover.  The new building was designed by Campbell Design Architecture, with Matthews Construction serving as the building’s general contractor.
