As I end my second three-year term on the Professional Awning Manufacturers Association Advisory Board, I’ve found myself reflecting on just how far we’ve come together as a community. When this quarterly Shade & Awning Newsletter launched early last year, our vision was to create a valuable resource – one that informed, connected and inspired those within our industry. Looking back, I believe we’ve made meaningful strides toward that goal, thanks in no small part to the contributions and engagement of our members.
Serving on the board has been a deeply rewarding experience on multiple levels. On one hand, it’s gratifying to know that the time and effort we’ve invested have supported initiatives that strengthen and advance our industry. But perhaps even more meaningful has been the opportunity to build lasting relationships with my fellow board members and PAMA members across the country.
Each year, companies generously opened their doors to host our in-person meetings, giving us a firsthand look at their unique challenges, successes, and company identities. These visits offered more than operational insights – they fostered a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose that I will carry with me well beyond my time on the board.
As I step back and pass the baton to the next generation of leaders, I encourage those who have not yet been actively involved to consider doing so. Whether through participation in PAMA initiatives or by stepping up to serve on the board, your voice and perspective matter. The growth and direction of our industry rely on engaged members who are willing to share their time, energy and ideas.
To my peers, customers and even competitors who have been part of this journey: Thank you. The experiences and memories we’ve shared are something I’ll always cherish. And to those who will follow, your contributions will shape the future of this industry we all value so much. I look forward to seeing where you take it.
