German engineering company 3E Smart Solutions provides prototyping, product development and consulting services to companies in or exploring the e-textile industry. The company creates prototypes and helps companies develop e-textile products such as smart wearables for fitness, recovery and rehabilitation in animals and humans.
The company works with embroiderer ZSK Stickmaschinen GmbH to integrate smart garments with capabilities such as light-emitting fibers, GPS trackers and motion sensors.
For pets and animals, 3E has made prototypes of heated and illuminated garments for muscle recovery and safety, such as vests and blankets. Others included garments such as a chest strap with embroidered GPS-tracking electrodes that monitor vital signs such as heart rate, respiration and muscle activity.
In addition to safety gear, 3E’s technology can also make LED therapy components for red-light therapy that can be integrated into soft fabrics for cuffs, face masks and wound recovery mats, both for humans and animals. Motion sensors can be added to smart fitness equipment, such as seats and backrests, to track the user’s posture and exertion in real time, alerting them to correct their posture or form to prevent injury.
The company also helps develop smart heating fabrics for humans in activewear, belts and recovery wraps for muscle warmup, injury prevention and post-exercise recovery. Embedded tube channels can also be embroidered in garments and mats for cooling and compression therapy.
