Since 1998, Swiss jeweler Chopard has been an official partner of the Cannes Film Festival. The luxury house crafts the festival’s Palme d’or and trophies and adorns the stars in attendance with pieces from its dazzling Red Carpet Collection. Chopard also organizes unforgettable parties each year. This year’s theme was “love,” and it was carried out in every element, including the decor, entertainment, food and cocktails—even down to the red carpet rolled out for celebrity guests.

This year, Chopard wanted to incorporate sustainable design into all aspects of the party, and worked with the Danish company Ege Carpets to create a beautiful and sustainable textile.

Ege, a textile flooring company with a strong commitment to the environment, chose ECONYL®, a regenerated nylon yarn, to create the carpet. Made by Aquafil, an international yarn manufacturer based in Italy, ECONYL is made from recycled waste instead of oil and can be regenerated an infinite number of times without any compromise in quality, which helps divert products made from the fiber from waste streams that end up in landfills and the oceans.
