Cooley Group, Pawtucket, R.I., and joint partner Formetco Inc., Duluth, Ga., plan to light up billboards, signs, awnings and transit shelters with solar energy systems designed by newly formed CF Solar LLC. The new company will combine flexible composites with thin film flexible photovoltaic panels, EcoSeries™ LED lighting systems and Smart Link™ controllers, a patent-pending system for integrating outdoor display applications into the energy grid. CF Solar will provide complete battery systems for areas that don’t have access to electrical power. By developing custom solutions in solar, CF Solar will generate clean energy to power displays and allow customers to sell excess energy back to local utility companies.
