The Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) is one of the EU’s top priorities, and the European Commission reminded companies that use hazardous chemicals in products or manufacturing to register those chemicals before the November 30, 2010, deadline. The companies also are required to notify the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) of the chemicals’ classification and labeling by January 3, 2011. So far, an estimated 4,000 companies have filed notification. Detailed guidance on how to file the required notification is available from ECHA in 22 languages.
