Fabric collection from Camira covers the spectrum of environmental issues, including the rapid renewability and biodegradability of natural raw materials, carbon offsetting of high content wools for climate balance, and a move away from virgin petrochemical synthetics in favor of recycled product content. The company’s strategic preference is for natural and renewable sources of textile fiber from plants and animals; some of the fabrics are made from new “bast” fibers contained within the stems of plants such as nettles, jute and hemp. Camira is registered to both ISO 9001 (quality standard) and ISO 14001 (environmental management).
