One employee, two jobs

News | | By:

Employees can contribute to process improvement, and the bottom line.

Finding employees with the skill set necessary for the specialty fabrics industry can be challenge enough, but Tom Trutna of BIG INK Display Graphics, Eagan, Minn., looks for more: “One of our core values is a commitment to constant improvement, so we bring up time and time again that people have two jobs every day: the job that they are there to do—whether it is finishing or printing or sewing, and the other half of their job is to be thinking about how they can improve the process. That’s the culture side of things that we are always trying to push on people: to always be thinking ‘what can I do to make this process more streamlined?’”
