Leather efficiency

A new eco-friendly artificial leather with a bio-content of about 70 percent developed by Flokser Group uses Susterra® 1,3-propanediol (PDO) by DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products as its bio-based building block material. Susterra 1,3-propanediol is certified 100 percent bio-based by the USDA. A peer-reviewed life cycle assessment demonstrates that the production of bio-based propanediol offers significant environmental benefits including up to 40 percent less greenhouse gas emissions and 40 percent less non-renewable energy used in its production vs. petroleum-based glycols.
