Going green with bluesign in China

Industry News | March 1, 2008 | By:

Environmental issues with goods made in China may be one reason why Ho Yu Textile Co. Ltd., Taipei, Taiwan, signed up with bluesign technologies ag, St. Gallen, Switzerland, for its screening and consultation services. A bluesign screening includes detailed on-site evaluation of the environment, resource and workplace circumstances of textile manufacturing sites. The five bluesign standards are: resource productivity, consumer safety, air emissions, water emissions and occupational health and safety. By helping textile companies reduce air emissions and water use, and seeking out raw materials with less environmental impacts, bluesign “certifies compliance to the most stringent international quality requirements and will continue to distinguish products in the future,” says Detlef Fischer, vice president of bluesign.
