The mitigation bag is a highly specialized cover used by the U.S Air Force for the Delta IV program. Its purpose is to protect the nose cone from weather damage as well as humidity. This cover is complex and unique because it uses AN-108, which is made of a lamination of two layers of reinforced 0.5-mil Tedlar®, aluminized inside for static dissipation. The material is extremely lightweight, and there are specific fabricated vents throughout the cover to allow air conditioning ducts to blow cool air on the inside of the cover. Highly specific psi and tear-strength testing was done to complete the cover. At 75 feet long, it is one of the largest covers to be used for humidity protection.
