Retractable awnings, moving outdoor spaces

Awnings & Canopies, Projects | March 1, 2010 | By:

Winter weather kindles human longing for the rites of spring, including lounging with food and friends on decks, porches and patios. A’besco Blinds and Awnings, New South Wales, Australia, plans to take advantage of outdoor living trends, as well as a 2007 smoking ban instituted in Australia, by selling the SUNRAIN® Bistro line of retractable awning systems. The awning systems, manufactured by Leiner Australia, another New South Wales firm with roots in Germany, developed SUNRAIN Bistro with outdoor entertainment in mind—pubs, clubs, hotels and bars that entertain smokers outdoors.

The waterproof PVC membrane skin folds into or out of storage via a motorized system or manual crank control. It comes in many colors and makes a great printing substrate, allowing commercial users to put their brand out front. The system’s maximum width is 6.5 meters, maximum projection 8 meters, and heating or lighting options extend the season for outdoor spaces.
