Meshing business with beauty

The New York University (NYU) Stern School of Business wanted a new branding strategy, including renovation of lobbies, connecting corridors, signage and learning space to visually interlink the school’s three disparate buildings. Architect Anne Kojima, Perkins + Will, Chicago, Ill., selected a metal mesh integrated with lighting for a ceiling that vertically connects three floors, “a visually stunning, transparent scrim across the expanse of ceiling,” says Kojima. The Dogla-Trio Architectural Design Wire Mesh, manufactured by W.S. Tyler, Mentor, Ohio, consists of a special weave structure that is both durable and easy to install.

The layered, modern look of the metal mesh complements a beautiful stair in the main lobby and is invigorated with colorful and appealing wall graphics that update the NYU Stern School of Business brand. Woven of architectural grade stainless steel, the metal fabrics can work with segment-, roll- or frame-constructions; integrated lighting systems; acoustic systems; and enclosures for technical equipment.
