The U.S. Green Building Council established the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) framework to certify that building designs are constructed, operated and maintained in an energy-efficient and sustainable way. Tri Vantage®, a distribution subsidiary of Glen Raven, has earned a LEED Silver certification for its Consolidated Distribution Center in Mebane, N.C., the only LEED-certified distribution center in the state. The facility, which distributes more than 10,000 industrial fabrics, features solar hot water; sensors that turn lights on and off; high-efficiency heating, ventilation and air conditioning; low-flow plumbing fixtures; green cleaning procedures; building materials made of at least 30 percent recycled content; and low VOC emissions. The facility uses 20 percent less energy than required by standard building codes.
