Art and recreation intersect with The Drift art installation

The Drift, designed by artist David Cross and created by Canvasland New Zealand, was an art piece that asked audience members to rethink their experience of the urban environment and perform a curiously different passage through this frenetic city thoroughfare in Sydney, Australia. This participatory installation consisted of a yellow tunnel-shaped inflatable PVC structure that ran the length of the popular water feature in Taylors Square. Once inside the tunnel waterslide, participants navigated randomly sprouting jets of water, relying on other senses when the tunnel darkened. The 500kg unit was an outstanding success.
