Dutch manufacturer DSM Dyneema calls its ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber Dyneema® the world’s strongest fiber™, and a jury of experts at the Soldier Technology Conference 2013 agreed, awarding the company for Best Light-Weight Protective Product in the Soldier category. Body armor made with Dyneema had unmatched ballistic performance, light weight, flexibility and improved personal comfort, giving it the edge over stiff competition. The fiber is durable, resistant to chemicals and UV radiation- and moisture-proof. Dyneema is used for soft ballistic vests, hard ballistic helmets, shields and body armor inserts.
