“Sustainability in Action” at Huntsman

Huntsman Textile Effects, a global supplier of dyes and textile chemicals headquartered in Singapore, has mobilized its workforce of 3,000 associates at major facilities in eight countries into thinking globally and acting locally. Its “Sustainability in Action” projects organized and implemented by employee teams have included tree plantings, beach and park cleanups, recycling and waste-management campaigns and community discussions. The textile sector’s use of fresh water—and spotty reputation as a water polluting industry—has made clean water, water conservation and pollution prevention a major focus for Huntsman, both inside and outside of its facilities. Other worldwide initiatives championed by Huntsman include World Environmental Day 2014, the Bring Your Own Bag initiative and Earth Hour (switching off non-essential power for one hour).
