New app for sourcing technical fabrics

Owens Corning, the Toledo, Ohio-based global producer of glass fiber reinforcements for composite systems, has made available its “U.S. Technical Fabrics Guide” as a free app for Apple® and Android™ mobile devices. The electronic guide helps specifiers, fabricators, designers and engineers access product characteristics, benefits and resin compatibilities for more than 50 featured fabric products in the U.S. market, including unidirectionals, biaxials, multiaxials, complexes, specialty mats and woven roving fabrics. It features a material calculator that enables users to estimate thickness for a laminate of a single product depending on the weight and fabric construction or, conversely, the glass content in a laminate to help identify the optimum solution for a given application. Results can be saved as “favorites.”
