TenCate offers new body armor technology

Industry News | December 1, 2014 | By:

TenCate Advanced Armor USA, Newmark, Ohio, has acquired Smart Body Armor® from Newport Sensors Inc., Irvine, Calif. The groundbreaking sensor technology provides body armor users the ability to inspect, in real time, the ballistic integrity of hard body armor inserts. Through extensive testing in cooperation with the U.S. Army, TenCate Smart Body Armor technology has proven more effective than other methods used to detect damage to hard body armor inserts, and is fast and convenient to use. Typically, damage is difficult to detect; the user must remove his or her personal protection and send it to a testing facility to validate the hard body armor insert is still approved for use. This life-saving technology enables soldiers and law enforcement officers to inspect their body armor routinely.
