Institut de Soudure Group strengthens position on the composite market

A signed agreement between Villepinte, France-based Institut de Soudure Group and Saint-Avold, France-based PPE (Pôle de Plasturgie de l’Est) has strengthened the position of Institut de Soudure Group on the composite market.

The agreement will allow the Institut de Soudure Group to extend its activities, mainly focused on metal materials, to composite materials. By integrating PPE’s R&D and engineering activities, the Group forms its fourth industrial platform for developing assembly and inspection technologies for industrial companies.

The composite platform will allow development of transformation processes for continuous-fiber composite materials and completes the assembly, mechanical and corrosion and industrial maintenance platforms.

Since 2007, the Institut de Soudure Group and PPE have been working together on European R&D projects and via their joint subsidiary, Composite Integrity. The signed agreement allows the Institut de Soudure to gain full control of the subsidiary, which will have a mechanical testing and analysis lab for material composites transferred by PPE.
