Americhem Europe Ltd., Manchester, U.K., a global provider of color and additive solutions for synthetic fibers, is completing a plant-wide renovation and redesign. The renovations are designed to give the plant a lean, first-class workflow that increases productivity and product quality. The refurbishment will benefit the company’s nonwovens customers but also customers from the automotive, synthetic fibers, packaging and film and sheet industries. The renovation included combining two factories located across the street from one another. The manufacturing process went through a lean overhaul before any of the work began. A new extrusion line was installed and a second extruder will also be fitted—both of which are capable of producing the company’s masterbatch products.
