People often agree that a meal tastes better outdoors. That’s why restaurant patios never go out of style. Not only is it enjoyable for patrons, the restaurant benefits from a larger service area with more tables.

Princi Italia, a casual dining spot in West Plano, Texas, is one of three locations owned and operated by the Restaurant Works. The restaurant’s outdoor dining area adds 30 to 40 seats to the popular spot. While East Texas is a natural for dining al fresco, the hot sun and Texas winds can make things uncomfortable. The solution for Restaurant Works: install a motorized screen to enhance the customer experience, not detract from it.

Restaurant Works chose Corradi USA to design and install seven Summit shades. Stylish and durable, the shades contain aluminum, feature stainless steel attachments and have a roll-up tube made of galvanized steel. Each shade rolls into an aluminum housing.

To motorize the shades, Nice Group USA provided its Era Mat system, which features motors internal to the tubes for reeling and unreeling. The system responsively monitors the force required to raise and lower the shades based on environmental and climatic changes. It can be programmed for a particular environment.

A remote control makes the system easy to operate, and an intelligent obstacle detection system stops a shade from descending if it encounters a person or object while closing. The shades can also be preset to open and close at certain times. For more information, visit www.corradiusa.com.
